中共中央總書(shū)記、國家主席、中央軍委主席習近平7月8日給中國國家博物館的老專(zhuān)家回信，在國博創(chuàng )建110周年之際，向國博全體同志致以熱烈祝賀和誠摯問(wèn)候。習近平在回信中說(shuō)，我曾多次到國家博物館參觀(guān)，留下了深刻印象。得知國博在收藏、研究、展示、對外交流等方面取得了新的進(jìn)步，我感到很欣慰。習近平強調，希望同志們堅定文化自信，推進(jìn)文明交流互鑒，守護好、傳承好、展示好中華文明優(yōu)秀成果。

President Xi Jinping has stressed firming up cultural confidence, preserving the fine accomplishments of Chinese civilization and using cultural relics to promote exchanges and mutual learning between civilizations. Chinese President Xi Jinping，also general secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and chairman of the Central Military Commission, made the remarks Friday in a letter replying to senior experts at the National Museum of China (NMC) on the occasion of the 110th anniversary of the museum. Offering warm congratulations and sincere greetings to the museum staff, Xi said his previous visits to the museum left him with a deep impression and he was pleased to learn that new progress has been made by the museum in the fields of collection, research, exhibitions and exchanges.

中國國家博物館是代表國家收藏、研究、展示、闡釋能夠充分反映中華優(yōu)秀傳統文化、革命文化和社會(huì )主義先進(jìn)文化代表性物證的最高機構，是國家最高歷史文化藝術(shù)殿堂和文化客廳。中國國家博物館的前身是1912年7月設立的國立歷史博物館籌備處。新中國成立后，在天安門(mén)廣場(chǎng)東側新建中國革命博物館和中國歷史博物館，2003年兩館合并組建中國國家博物館，2007年3月開(kāi)始至2010年底，中國國家博物館進(jìn)行了改擴建工程，館舍總建筑面積19.2萬(wàn)平方米，為世界上單體建筑面積最大的博物館，硬件設施和功能為世界一流，共有展廳48個(gè)。

中國國家博物館現有藏品數量140萬(wàn)余件，涵蓋古代文物、近現代文物、圖書(shū)古籍善本、藝術(shù)品等多種門(mén)類(lèi)。其中，古代文物藏品81.5萬(wàn)件（套），近現代文物藏品34萬(wàn)件（套），圖書(shū)古籍善本24萬(wàn)余件（冊），共有一級文物近6000件（套）。近年來(lái)特別是黨的十九大以來(lái)，中國國家博物館加大反映革命文化、當代先進(jìn)文化代表性物證的征集力度，面向社會(huì )公開(kāi)征集文物藏品，每年平均征集古代文物50件套左右，近現代文物、實(shí)物和藝術(shù)品1000余件套。

2018年國家博物館觀(guān)眾人數達861余萬(wàn)人，創(chuàng )造觀(guān)眾參觀(guān)歷史新高，是世界上最受歡迎的博物館之一。特別是“偉大的變革——慶祝改革開(kāi)放40周年大型展覽”期間，國家博物館接待觀(guān)眾達423余萬(wàn)人次。這一集中展示中華大地40年人間奇跡與磅礴巨變的展覽，不僅成為海內外媒體關(guān)注的焦點(diǎn)，更刷新了一項項布展、觀(guān)展、反響紀錄，樹(shù)立了大型展覽活動(dòng)的新標桿。

Noting the importance of museums in preserving and passing on human civilizations and the glorious mission and great responsibility shouldered by museum workers, Xi expressed his hope that the museum staff will stick to the correct political orientation, strengthen cultural confidence, step up research and be innovative in putting on exhibitions. He urged the museum workers to make new contributions to the development of China's museums, and the building of China into a country with a strong socialist culture.
