Chinese experts claimed that smog can delay global warming because the particles help oceans absorb carbon dioxide.

近日有中國專(zhuān)家表示，霧霾可以減緩全球變暖，因為霧霾中的微小顆粒有助于海洋吸收二氧化碳。

The smog does nothing aside from damaging people's health and the terrestrial ecosystem, Li Weijun, a professor at Shandong University, and Shi Zongbo, a researcher at the University of Birmingham, told the Science and Technology Daily last Monday.

上周一，山東大學(xué)教授李衛軍、英國伯明翰大學(xué)研究員時(shí)宗波向《科技日報》透露，霧霾除了損害人類(lèi)健康和破壞陸地生態(tài)系統外，沒(méi)有任何壞處。

Li said that scientists have believed for a long time that the acid produced by human activity and emissions can allow the insoluble iron oxide to convert into soluble iron, and if the particle settles on the surface of the ocean, it can allow the organisms on the surface of the ocean to effectively use iron and encourage the growth of marine microorganism.

據李衛軍表示，科學(xué)家們在很長(cháng)一段時(shí)間里一直認為，由人類(lèi)活動(dòng)和自然排放形成的酸性物質(zhì)，能夠促進(jìn)不可溶解鐵氧化物向可溶解鐵轉變，如果這些顆粒物沉降于海洋表面，就能夠增加海洋表面生物可有效利用的鐵。

The process can store more carbon dioxide in the ocean and delay the global warming process, said Li, adding that previously there was no evidence to prove that the acid substance helps insoluble iron content convert into soluble.

李衛軍表示，這一過(guò)程會(huì )導致更多的二氧化碳儲存在海洋中，起到減緩全球變暖的作用，并指出之前沒(méi)有證據證明酸性物質(zhì)有助于不溶性鐵轉化為可溶性鐵。

However, scientists found particles produced by steel factories and coal factories in the Yellow Sea region contain iron substances and are surrounded by sulfate.

但是科學(xué)家們卻發(fā)現，黃海海域附近的鋼廠(chǎng)和煤廠(chǎng)產(chǎn)生的廢氣顆粒中含有鐵物質(zhì)，并被硫酸鹽包裹。

The sulfate surface contains soluble iron, which provides "solid evidence" for the theory.

這些硫酸鹽表面含有可溶性鐵，從而為上文的理論提供了“鐵證”。
