After spearheading a revolution in e-commerce, the founder of Alibaba Group, billionaire Jack Ma, is setting his sights on China's education system by establishing a private bilingual school.

在電子商務(wù)領(lǐng)域推動(dòng)一場(chǎng)革命之后，阿里巴巴集團的創(chuàng )始人馬云又把目光轉向了中國的教育系統，他將建立一座私立的雙語(yǔ)學(xué)校。

He and other partners of Alibaba co-founded the Yungu School, or Cloud Valley, in Hangzhou, Zhejiang province. The school will span 15 years of education, offering classes from kindergarten through high school.

馬云和阿里巴巴的合作伙伴已經(jīng)在浙江省杭州市建立了一座云谷學(xué)校。這座學(xué)校實(shí)行15年教育制，提供從幼兒園到高中的課程。

Yungu aims to give its students an opportunity to make the best of themselves, according to a written reply from the company.

據阿里巴巴的一份書(shū)面回應稱(chēng)，云谷學(xué)校的目標是要給學(xué)生們一個(gè)機會(huì )，讓他們做最好的自己。

Compassion, independence, social responsibility and lifelong learning are among the key traits that the school believes are crucial for students to become global citizens.

云谷學(xué)校認為，同情心、獨立感、社會(huì )責任和終身學(xué)習是學(xué)生成為全球公民至關(guān)重要的特征。

In a revised law in November, China banned profit-centered private schools from the nine-year compulsory education system, which covers the years from primary school to junior high school, because it is a public service to be provided by the government.

在去年11月的一份修訂法案中，中國禁止以營(yíng)利為目的的私立學(xué)校進(jìn)入從小學(xué)到初中的9年義務(wù)教育，因為這是一項由政府提供的公共服務(wù)。

Alibaba said its school is registered as a nonprofit organization and will comply with the law. It declined to disclose tuition fees.

At full capacity, Yungu is expected to have 3,000 students. For the upcoming September semester, it plans to enroll 60 students in first grade, and another 48 in seventh grade.

云谷學(xué)校最多預計能招收3000名學(xué)生。在今年9月份開(kāi)學(xué)季，云谷學(xué)校將招收60名一年級學(xué)生和48名初一學(xué)生。

After submitting online applications, candidates will be assessed based on their materials and face-to-face interviews with the student and parents. Prospective candidates do not need to hold a Hangzhou hukou, or household registration.

在網(wǎng)上提交申請之后，申請人會(huì )根據自己提交的材料、以及申請人和家長(cháng)面試的情況接受評估。申請人無(wú)需持有杭州戶(hù)口。
