美國16家企業(yè)CEO呼吁國會(huì )通過(guò)邊境稅

Chief executive officers (CEOs) of 16 companies, including Boeing Co, Caterpillar Inc and General Electric Co, have urged the US Congress to pass a comprehensive tax code rewrite, including a controversial border tax.

近日，波音公司、卡特彼勒公司以及通用電氣公司等16家企業(yè)的首席執行官(CEO)敦促美國國會(huì )通過(guò)一項范圍廣泛的稅法修訂案，當中包含極具爭議的邊境稅。

In a letter to Republican and Democratic leadership, the CEOs said a Republican-proposed border adjustment tax would make US-manufactured products more competitive abroad and at home by making imported goods face the same level of taxation.

這些CEO在致共和黨與民主黨領(lǐng)袖的信函中表示，由共和黨提議的邊境調整稅讓進(jìn)口商品面臨同樣的稅負水平，將令美國制造的商品在國內外市場(chǎng)更具競爭力。

It was the latest move in a back-and-forth lobbying effort from US companies over changes to the tax code.

這是美國企業(yè)針對稅法改革反復游說(shuō)的最新舉措。

Republican House Speaker Paul Ryan has proposed lowering the corporate income tax to 20% from 35%, imposing a 20% tax on imports and excluding export revenue from taxable income.

共和黨籍眾議院議長(cháng)保羅·萊恩已提議將企業(yè)所得稅率由35%調降至20%，對進(jìn)口商品課征20%稅金，并在應納稅所得中扣除出口收入。

The proposal has drawn opposition from large U.S. corporations that require imports, like retailers and auto manufacturers. Those that export much of their output tend to support the tax code changes.

該提議已經(jīng)引起了需要進(jìn)口的美國大型公司的反對，比如零售商和汽車(chē)制造商。而那些出口大量產(chǎn)品的公司則傾向于支持稅法改革。

In a separate report, the Information Technology And Innovation Foundation called on Congress to lower the corporate rate, but warned that elements like the border tax risked jeopardizing the effort.

"In order for corporate tax reform to succeed in boosting economic growth, lawmakers should focus on the most essential changes that will have the greatest effect on innovation and competitiveness," Joe Kennedy, an ITIF senior fellow, said in a statement.
